Boat dealer website speed test

Find out how your boat dealership website loads for a shopper on a phone, in about 30 seconds.

Uses Google's PageSpeed tests. Takes about 30 seconds. No signup.

Boat shoppers do a lot of their looking away from a desk. They browse pontoons on the dock, compare outboard packages at the marina, and send a listing to a fishing buddy from the parking lot of the boat ramp. Marina and shoreline signal can be patchy, so a heavy page takes even longer to show up.

This free test loads your homepage the way Google does, on a simulated mid-range phone with a slowed network and on a desktop. When Google has enough real Chrome visitors to your site, you also see how real shoppers' visits went over the last 28 days.

How boat shoppers use your website

Shoppers want to see the boat. They swipe through gallery photos of the helm, the deck layout and the engine, check the length and horsepower, and look for the price or a way to ask about it. Seasonal shoppers often come back several times as the season gets closer, so a site that feels quick every visit keeps them on your listings instead of a marketplace.

Big image galleries, walk-around videos, financing tools and live chat all compete for the same phone and the same connection. The goal is not to remove them, but to make sure the first screen shows up fast and the page stays usable while the rest loads.

What usually slows boat dealer sites down

Uncompressed gallery photos, sliders that load every image up front, several tracking and chat scripts, and web fonts that hold up the text. The report lists the heaviest outside scripts on your homepage and how long each one kept the phone busy, plus the top three fixes Google suggests.

What you get

A letter grade from Google's own speed score for phone and desktop, a filmstrip of what a shopper saw second by second, your page weight by type, and plain-English fixes. Every number comes from Google PageSpeed Insights or the Chrome UX Report.

Questions

My site looks fine on my laptop. Why test a phone?

A laptop on office Wi-Fi hides problems that a phone on a marina connection shows right away. Google tests with a simulated mid-range phone and a slowed network for that reason.

Will big photo galleries always make my site slow?

No. Galleries can be quick if photos are resized for phones, use modern formats, and load as the shopper scrolls instead of all at once. The report flags image fixes when Google finds them.

What is real-visitor data?

Google collects anonymous timing data from Chrome users who visit your site. If enough people visited in the last 28 days, we show it next to the lab test. Many local dealers don't have enough visits for Google to publish it, which is normal.

Can I share the report with my website provider?

Yes. Each report has its own private link. Send it to your provider or marketing team so everyone is looking at the same numbers.
